The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), or the stimulus, provided some $21 billion for scientific research and development, the purchase of scientific equipment, and science-related construction. This extraordinary investment, proposed by President Obama and enacted by Congress, is affirmation of the essential role scientific inquiry and discovery play in both short-term recovery and long-term economic growth.

Agency Recovery Sites
On February 17, 2009, the day after President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law, the Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag sent a detailed memo to the heads of all departments and agencies receiving funds from the act, offering guidance for how to meet the President's high expectations for transparency and accountability.
In response, many have established their own Recovery Act web pages. Use the links below to learn more about how the different agencies and departments are spending the funds allocated to them by the ARRA.
